Switching between Android and iPhone should not mean explaining the same task to AI twice. OGAM (Off Grid AI Mobile) lets you continue one conversation across your paired phones, with the earlier messages already there. New chat updates move automatically over your local network.
After installation and Pro setup, that handoff works without a cloud sync service. Keep both apps open while messages arrive, and use a downloaded local model on the phone that generates the next reply.

This works for conversations in OGAM. You do not need to export them after each reply, copy the earlier messages, or send the history through iCloud or Google Drive. It does not import chat history from a different AI service.
What do both phones need?
Install the current app on both phones and complete Pro activation before pairing. This guide uses the shared Sync interface in OGAM 0.0.111. Download the models you want to use while internet is available, then connect both phones to the same local network.
The mobile shared-chat release describes viewing a peer device’s activity in a shared conversation. The current mobile release includes the shared sync service for the phone apps.

Android-to-iPhone pairing uses the local-network route. The nearby Apple-device route does not connect an Android phone. Leave Wi-Fi enabled on both phones for this setup.
How do you pair Android and iPhone?
Show the pairing QR code on one phone and scan it from the other. You can choose either direction. The steps below show the code on Android and scan it with the iPhone.
- Open OGAM on both phones and go to Settings → Sync.
- On each phone, tap the gear beside its device name. In Device settings, check Discoverable and Find nearby devices.
- Return to Sync on Android and tap Show pairing QR code.
- On the iPhone, tap the camera control labelled Scan pairing QR code. Allow camera access if prompted and scan the Android phone’s code.
- Follow the displayed pairing or device-access instructions.
- Check that each phone lists the other as connected.
The Home screen also offers Set up Sync or Sync devices, which opens the same area.
You can enter a code without using the camera. In Sync on the iPhone, select the Android phone from the available devices, enter the pairing code shown on Android, then select Pair.
If the phones cannot find each other, use Rescan. On iPhone, also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and allow OGAM. Apple documents this permission separately from camera access.
How do you continue the conversation on the other phone?
Once connected, chat updates move automatically between paired phones. You open the existing conversation on the second phone and send a follow-up. You do not need to start a second chat or repeat the original prompt.
Use a short example first:
- On Android, choose a local text model and ask: “Plan three simple vegetarian dinners using rice, beans and vegetables.”
- Let the answer finish. Keep OGAM open on both phones.
- On the iPhone, open Chats and select that conversation.
- Check that the original prompt and answer are there.
- Choose a local text model on the iPhone if needed. Ask: “Turn those dinners into one shopping list.”
- Return to the same chat on Android and check for the new messages.
This checks a complete round trip. At first, finish a reply on one phone before sending the next question from the other. If a message is missing, it is then clear which part of the handoff needs attention.
Do the phones have to run the same model?
No. The shared conversation and the model used to answer it are separate. Each phone needs a model that it can run, or another configured model connection. For fully local replies on both phones, download and select an appropriate text model on each.
A model that fits the Android phone may not fit the iPhone’s memory budget. You can use a smaller model on one device and continue with the same message history. The answers can differ because the models differ.
Syncing the chat does not automatically transfer the model file. Model transfer is a separate action. Start the first handoff with plain text so a missing model or an unfinished attachment cannot be mistaken for failed chat sync.
What data becomes shared after pairing?
Chats and projects are part of the required shared workspace. Pairing is not a way to share only the one conversation used in this test. Use your own trusted devices and review Sync → Sharing for optional data choices.
You do not have to enable screenshot or download-folder sharing to sync a conversation. Attachments belonging to a chat may take longer to arrive than its text. Wait for them to finish before you ask the receiving phone to read an image or document.
The result is shared working data on your devices. Keep a separate backup if you need recovery from a mistaken change or deletion; a second synced copy is not the same as an independent historical backup.
Can this work without internet or mobile data?
Yes, after installation, activation and model setup, the phones can exchange chat data over a local network that has no internet connection. Keep Wi-Fi on. To check the setup, turn off cellular data on both phones and use a local network with its internet connection unavailable.
Send a short message from Android, check it on iPhone, then reply with the iPhone’s local model. Cloud models, web search and online tools have separate internet requirements.
When the phones are on different networks, this same-network setup does not keep them connected. Pairing records who the other device is; it does not create a route across the internet.
Why did sync pause after you switched apps?
Phone operating systems can limit background activity. iOS permits only limited background reachability, and Android behavior depends on its active service and system conditions. Bring OGAM to the foreground on both phones and wait for connected status before checking the conversation.
Automatic sync means there is no manual export for each new message. It does not mean a suspended app is always available.
