A thought on your phone can become work on your Mac. OGAM (Off Grid AI Mobile) lets you send an AI task from Android to a paired Mac running OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop). The Mac controls its desktop apps, while progress and the result return to your phone’s chat.

For example, you can turn a short instruction on your phone into a draft in an app on the Mac. You describe the outcome instead of sending yourself a reminder to do it later. This guide starts with one small task while you can watch the Mac.
You need Pro access for the paired-device Assistant workflow. The Mac must be awake, connected, and ready for computer use. A phone request cannot operate a sleeping or unreachable computer.
What can you control from Android?
OGAM’s Assistant can use Computer Use on a connected desktop. Computer Use works through the Mac’s visible apps to carry out the requested task. A separate Web Use tool handles supported browser tasks. You send a goal and follow its task status in the conversation.
This is task-based control. OGAM is not presented here as a remote mouse or a full desktop video-streaming app. The useful result is that you can ask for work on the Mac from the phone.
The route is available in the OGAM 0.0.111 and OGAD 0.0.51 generation. Use compatible current versions on both devices.
What should you prepare on the Mac?
Install OGAD, activate Pro, and prepare a model suitable for the task. Complete the computer-use permission setup on the Mac before trying to control it from Android. macOS needs to allow the app to inspect the screen and operate accessible controls.
Check these items:
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| OGAD running on an awake Mac | The task executes there |
| Accessibility permission | Lets the app interact with Mac controls |
| Screen Recording permission | Lets computer use inspect the visible screen when needed |
| A ready model and enough memory | The task needs a working decision model |
| Pro access and a paired Android phone | Enables this Assistant connection |
If macOS asks for a relaunch after a permission change, follow that prompt. Open the target app before your first task, and keep the screen available so you can see what happens.
For a local workflow, prepare downloaded local models rather than selecting a cloud model. Start by confirming that OGAD can answer a normal chat question on the Mac. Resolve model or permission setup there before adding the phone connection.
How do you connect Android and Mac?
Use Devices in OGAD and Settings → Sync in OGAM to pair your own devices. Start on the same trusted local network. When the Mac is connected, allow paired devices to use its tools.
- Open Devices on the Mac and make it discoverable.
- Select Show QR Code.
- On Android, open Settings → Sync and use Scan pairing QR code.
- Scan the Mac’s code and finish the pairing flow. You can enter the pairing code instead if you prefer.
- Wait for the two devices to show as connected.
- In the Mac’s Devices → Sharing controls, check Remote actions, labelled Let paired devices use this Mac’s tools.
Pair only devices you trust with your work. Sync also shares supported conversation and project data; pairing is more than saving a server address.
If the Mac was already paired, you can use that connection. You do not need to add it again as a generic remote model server just to launch this task. Remote inference and remote computer actions are different capabilities.
How do you send the first task?
Open a chat in OGAM, choose a chat model that can use tools, and turn on Assistant beside the chat input. Send one complete goal that names the Mac app and the result you want. Keep the first task small enough to check on the Mac’s screen.
For example, open a new blank document in TextEdit on the Mac, then send:
On my Mac, use the open TextEdit document to draft a packing checklist with three sections: clothes, electronics, and travel documents. Leave the draft open for me to review.
This is a useful first task because the result is visible and easy to check. It does not need a website login, a payment, or a message to another person.
Give the task time to start. You should see a task entry with progress in the phone conversation. On the Mac, the supervised computer-use view lets you observe the work and take over if needed.
Check the actual document when the task finishes. A completion message is useful, but the draft itself is what you wanted. If the model misunderstood the structure, give a clear follow-up such as “Put electronics into a bulleted list” rather than repeating the full task while the first run is active.
How do you pause or stop it?
Use the controls shown on the task card. Depending on the task’s current state, OGAM can offer pause, resume or continue, and stop. The available controls change with the task; a completed task does not show the same controls as a running one.
Keep the phone connected while sending a control. If a request cannot reach the Mac, inspect the Mac directly before assuming it stopped. The desktop’s supervision controls are also available there.
When a task needs a sign-in or payment, handle that part yourself on the Mac. Keep account access and final decisions under your control, then continue only when the task is ready.
Does this work without internet?
A local-network task can use local models and local apps after setup. Both devices still need a working connection. If the task opens an online website, uses a cloud model, or connects from a different location through an internet route, it needs that service’s connectivity.
Start with the same-network setup in this guide. It makes it easier to separate a task problem from a connection problem. Do not assume that a Mac listed in Sync is currently reachable.
Computer use can inspect the Mac’s screen and app context. The model route you choose determines where that information is processed. Choose local models for work you intend to keep on your hardware.
Why is Assistant unavailable?
OGAM distinguishes missing Pro access, a missing desktop connection, and unavailable desktop tasks. Use that message to decide what to fix first.
| Message or symptom | Next step |
|---|---|
| Assistant requires Pro | Activate the required Pro access. |
| Connect a Desktop | Open Sync and connect the Mac. |
| Desktop tasks unavailable | Check the Mac’s remote-action permission and task setup. |
| AI only describes what to do | Check Assistant is enabled and the selected chat model supports tools. |
| Task cannot inspect or operate an app | Check macOS permissions and whether the target app is open and visible. |
| Progress stops updating | Check both devices are awake and connected before sending another task. |
Some app controls and workflows are harder for the model than others. Narrow a failed request to one visible result, inspect the app, and try that smaller step.
Turn one phone instruction into a Mac draft
Install OGAM on Android, pair it with OGAD on your Mac, and try the TextEdit checklist. Once that path works, you can give your Mac a clear task from the phone and follow the result in the same conversation.
