A few model experiments can leave several large downloads on your computer. You do not need to keep every model you tried.

OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) shows model storage, installed files, and incomplete downloads in one place. You can keep the models you use and remove others from disk without clearing your chat history as part of the same action.

Check disk space, not just memory

Downloaded models take disk space even when they are not running. Unloading a model from memory does not remove its files.

The core storage panel in OGAD 0.0.51 on Mac and Windows shows space used by models and available disk space. Use that view when your aim is to recover storage. Use model unloading when your aim is to free working memory for another task.

Before deleting a model, make sure you have another one available for the capability you still need. If you remove the only downloaded model for a task, you may need internet access to download a replacement before that task works again.

Remove one model you no longer use

1. Open Settings → Setup & health and find Storage.
2. Review the installed models grouped by type and their file sizes.
3. Identify a model you no longer need.
4. If it is active, select another installed model for that type first. The storage panel does not let you delete the active model.
5. Use the model’s Delete control and read the confirmation.
6. Confirm only if you want its files removed from disk, then check the updated storage view.

Start with one known model rather than deleting several unfamiliar files. Keep a local text model if you want chat available offline, and keep the voice, transcription, or image models you actually use.

A model’s size does not tell you how useful it is for your tasks. A smaller model you use every day can be worth keeping while a larger experiment is not.

Clean up an abandoned download

The same panel lists active, queued, failed, or interrupted downloads when present. For an incomplete model you still want, use Retry if available. For one you have abandoned, use the dismiss control that says it will delete the partial file.

Deleting a partial download gives up the data already fetched for that attempt. If you want the model later, you will need to download the missing files again.

Do not remove a partial file just because a large download takes time. Check its progress and status first. A download that is still progressing is different from an old attempt you no longer need.

Keep the right offline set

A practical cleanup starts with the work you expect to do:

• Keep one text model you know fits your computer.
• Keep transcription and voice models if you use audio locally.
• Keep an image model only if you plan to generate or edit images.
• Remove experiments you no longer use after checking that they are not active.

After cleanup, select the model you kept and try one small task. Do this before leaving a reliable connection if you need the computer to work offline later.

This model cleanup does not erase every kind of OGAD data. Chats, generated images, saved captures, and other personal data have separate controls. Operating-system backups and copies you made elsewhere are also separate from the model files shown here.
