You ask about one research project and get an answer mixed with another topic’s notes. OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) gives each project its own document collection, instructions, and conversations. Keep your client research, course reading, or writing projects separate so each question starts with the right material.

This is organization for local AI work. A project is not a separate locked user account or a guarantee that a model cannot make an unrelated claim.
What does a separate project change?
A project groups uploaded files, a system prompt, and related chats. When you ask a question inside that project, its document search uses the project’s enabled sources. The app can also use recent conversations from the same project.
Projects are free core features on supported Mac and Windows computers. Download a local text model if you want the answers generated on your computer. Finish initial model and search setup before using the workflow offline.
How do you create two separate research spaces?
Create a project for each topic and import the files into the appropriate knowledge base. Start the chat from the project rather than relying on the model to infer which collection you mean.
- Open Projects > New project, enter the first topic’s name, and press Enter.
- In Knowledge & settings > Knowledge base, select Add files and import only that topic’s documents.
- Repeat for the second topic with a different name and its own files.
- Open the first project and select Chats > New chat to ask about it.
- Switch to the second project before starting work on the other topic.
For example, use “Museum visit research” and “Home energy research.” Descriptive names are easier to choose correctly than “Project 1” and “Project 2.”
How do you give each project useful instructions?
Open Knowledge & settings and edit System prompt, then select Save. State the project’s purpose and how you want sources handled.
For the museum project:
Help me plan a museum visit from the uploaded notes. Name the source file when using a fact. Separate confirmed opening information from suggestions. Say when the notes do not answer.
For home energy research, use a different instruction tied to that topic. A project prompt is a model instruction, not a hard security rule. The project settings implementation stores these instructions with the project.
What if you use captured memory too?
In Pro, Include captured memory can add captured material to project retrieval. Turn it off in Knowledge & settings and select Save when you want a research collection focused on uploaded files.
That switch does not remove earlier conversations from the same project. Use a fresh chat for a clean thread, and a separate project when the subject itself changes.
If an old file should stop contributing, disable its retrieval switch. This changes future search but does not erase an answer already written from that file.
How do you check that the sources stay relevant?
Ask a narrow question with a known answer in each project. Request the source filename, then inspect it.
Which note gives the museum’s late-opening day? Name the file and quote the relevant sentence. If it is missing, say so.
Switch projects and ask a question from the other collection. You should be able to trace each answer to a relevant source. If the model invents an answer, do not treat that as evidence that it searched another project; inspect its actual sources.
What can still cause mixed answers?

Project separation does not prevent configured sync from copying projects to paired devices. It also does not encrypt one project against another user with access to the same installation.
Install OGAD, create two clearly named projects, and test one source-based question in each. Use the project name as your starting point whenever you switch topics.
