Travel information is more useful when you can open it without searching your inbox. A saved folder can hold the details; local AI can help you find an answer in the material you prepared.

OGAM (Off Grid AI Mobile) lets you add readable documents to a project and ask questions with a local model on your phone. Download the app and model, import the files, and test the collection without a connection before leaving. The setup below uses free core Projects on Android or iPhone.

The useful result is a small reference collection for information you already have. It does not provide live flight status, changing entry rules, or current opening hours while the phone is offline.

What should you put in the travel project?

Choose information you expect to look up and can verify before departure. Keep current original documents available through your normal travel tools as well. An AI answer should not be your only way to access an essential detail.

Suppose you are travelling to a workshop in another city. You want the venue address, arrival instructions, programme, and your own preparation notes available together.

Leave unnecessary sensitive information out of the AI collection. A full identity document is not required to ask where a workshop entrance is located.

How do you prepare the phone?

Install OGAM and download a local text model suited to the phone’s available memory. Complete setup over a reliable connection, with enough free storage for the model and documents.

The mobile release includes the core project workflow described here. Store availability can differ from the GitHub release, so check the version installed on your phone.

Select a local model rather than a connection to another computer. A home server or private remote address still needs a network route when you are away. For a fully disconnected test, the model must be ready on the phone itself.

Start with one model and a short chat. A completed download is useful only after you confirm that the model loads and answers on your device.

How do you create the travel project?

Make a project for one trip and add a small set of readable files. Wait for indexing to finish before trying questions. Clear filenames make sources easier to check on a small screen.

1. Open Projects and choose New.
2. Enter a trip name and tap Save.
3. Open the project and find Knowledge Base.
4. Tap Add to import local documents, or Text to add prepared notes.
5. Wait for indexing and leave the intended sources enabled with Use.
6. Under Chats, tap New to begin a project conversation.

The mobile project controls import or copy selected files before indexing. Make sure the originals are downloaded from any cloud provider before relying on them offline.

Use text PDFs or readable text documents. The mobile indexing path does not provide OCR for scanned PDFs. Prepare a checked text version of image-only information first.

What questions should you test?

Use questions whose answers you can confirm in the source. Start with a simple fact and then a condition or exception. Ask for the source so you can inspect the original wording.

For example:

According to the organiser’s instructions, which entrance should workshop attendees use? Name the source file and quote the relevant wording. If the instructions do not establish it, say so.

Then try:

What should I prepare before the first session, based only on my saved notes and the programme? Keep organiser requirements separate from my own plans.

Check the answers before travelling. A model may combine related text or miss a passage. Project retrieval returns selected material, not an exhaustive reading of every file.

How do you check that the folder works offline?

Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi, or use airplane mode with network connections disabled. Reopen the app, load the local model, and ask the same test questions. Open an original source too.

This checks more than whether a conversation was cached. You want to confirm that the local model, indexed material, and source files remain usable without fetching something new.

If a task fails, reconnect while you still have the opportunity and check the missing resource. Repeat the disconnected test after fixing it. Do not assume a web link or cloud-file placeholder will become available later without a connection.

How do you keep the information current?

Add a date to saved instructions and review them before departure. If an organiser sends a correction, update the relevant source and check the answer again. Keep old and current versions clearly distinguished.

A saved travel plan describes what you knew when you prepared it. It cannot tell you that a service changed after the phone went offline. Check live or official information separately when connectivity is available.

For critical details, keep a direct copy outside the AI conversation through your normal secure process. The project is a convenient reference, not the sole record you should depend on.

Use narrow questions when the collection grows. If you ask “Tell me everything about the trip,” the model may leave out the very detail you need.

Download OGAM, prepare one local model, and add a few useful documents. Test a venue question and a preparation question with the network off.

Keep the model local for this workflow. Initial downloads, live travel updates, and later sharing need their own connections. The useful result is a small collection you have already checked on the phone you will carry.
