Start with evidence instead of a blank page
A useful work update distinguishes completed results, progress still in flight and next steps. Your captured activity can remind you of a review, a difficult discussion or a document you improved, even when it did not become a large finished deliverable that day.
The app does not know every outcome just because a related window was open. Check the finished document, sent message or other source before claiming completion. Offline conversations and work done while capture was paused need your own notes.
Build the record during normal work
Use OGAD Pro on Mac. Prepare local screen-analysis and text models, review Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions, then explicitly choose Resume capture in Replay or Capture settings. Check the visible Capturing status and pause it when needed.
You do not need to type a diary entry for every task. The captured moments are processed into activity notes. Day requests a journal from those notes when it needs one, and Refresh summary lets you regenerate the day’s draft.
This is sampled computer activity, not a complete measure of effort or a record of every conversation.
Collect the useful parts of each day
- Open Day and review Journal for the latest workday.
- Compare each useful statement with Timeline or the actual work product.
- Use Previous day to review the other days in your update period.
- Copy the verified points into a short note, keeping the date and project beside each one.
- Add material work that the capture record could not include.
- Remove repeated mentions of the same task before drafting the update.
Keep the preparation note factual. “Reviewed the launch checklist and found two missing checks” is more useful than “Made great progress on launch readiness,” if the source supports the former.
Turn the notes into a concise update
Open Chat with a downloaded local text model and paste the checked notes. Ask for a format that matches your audience:
Write a weekly work update using only these dated notes. Use three sections: Completed, In progress, Next week. Keep concrete outcomes and open questions. Do not turn reviewing or editing into completion. Do not invent metrics, deadlines or approvals. Keep uncertain status marked for me to check.
This is a drafting step from material you choose. It does not automatically send the update to your team or create a weekly report from every stored record without review.
Make the update useful to its reader
For a manager, emphasize outcomes and blockers. For a client, include the next decision they need to make. For your own journal, retain the question you want to start with next week.
A compact structure could be:

Read the final draft once against your notes. Replace general praise with specific work. Remove any sentence that makes the week sound more complete than the evidence supports.
Keep the preparation on your Mac
After app, model and Pro setup, the captured record and a local chat model can support this workflow without a cloud AI service. You will need whatever connection your chosen communication tool requires when you decide to send the finished update.
The guide uses the Mac Pro Day and core Chat workflows associated with OGAD 0.0.51. Journal text is generated from activity-block notes, so inspect the supporting timeline when something seems wrong.
