A rough sketch can be enough to start a visual idea.
OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) can use your sketch as the starting image for a local AI generation. Draw the arrangement you want, describe the finished look, and create a concept on your own computer. Download the app and a compatible image model first; the generation can then run without internet.

What can a sketch help you explore?
A simple drawing can show where the main subject belongs, where the background begins and where you want empty space. Use it to explore a reading corner, a poster concept, a garden scene or a fictional object before spending time on detailed artwork.
The model interprets the sketch through its image-to-image workflow. This is not a tracing tool or a promise that every line will stay in place.
Start with a scene where some interpretation is useful. A concept for a reading corner is a better first test than a precise engineering drawing.
Make a sketch with a clear structure
Use a few bold shapes: a chair on the left, a shelf behind it and a window on the right. Keep the background plain. If you draw on paper, take a well-lit photo and crop it so the sketch fills the image. Save that image locally.
Describe the intended result rather than asking the model to understand every mark:

The drawing and prompt should agree. If the sketch puts the chair on the left while the prompt asks for it on the right, you have made the result harder to judge.
Turn it into a first draft
- In Models, download and select a local image model with image-to-image support. The released SDXL Lightning and Juggernaut XL variants include this mode.
- Open Chat, then + → Generate image.
- Open Image options, choose + Init image, and select your local source image.
- Check that its filename appears beside Strength.
- Enter your prompt and generate one draft.
- Compare it with the source, then open the result and select Download to save it.
Use a local image-to-image model, such as a supported SDXL variant. A text-only chat model cannot perform this task. Z-Image and the checked Core ML/MLX image paths do not accept this edit route, even though they can generate other images.
This is part of OGAD’s free local image workflow. Download the complete model and use the app’s memory guidance. A model file that fits on disk can still need more working memory than your computer has available.
Adjust the result without losing the idea
If the output stays too close to the raw drawing, increase Strength a little. If it loses the layout, reduce Strength and simplify the prompt. Keep the other settings unchanged while comparing those attempts.
You can also improve the sketch. Darken an important boundary, remove an ambiguous mark or make the intended subject larger. A clearer source image often gives you a more useful next attempt than adding a paragraph of extra instructions.
Once the composition is useful, explore the finish: “flat illustration,” “soft watercolor” or “realistic interior concept.” Each is a proposed direction, not a guaranteed rendering style.
Check it against the job it needs to do
For an interior concept, check whether the major objects remain in the intended places. For a poster, check whether the empty space survives. For a fictional product, inspect the shape for impossible joints or inconsistent parts.
Keep exact dimensions, construction details and labels in your normal design tools. A generated concept can help you discuss a direction; it does not establish that the object can be built.
The reference-image route is available in OGAD 0.0.51. After setup, choose a local model and locally stored sketch for offline work. Leave optional prompt enhancement off for the first run to keep the setup simple.
Give one rough idea a visible form
Download OGAD, sketch a scene with three main shapes and turn it into one concept. Compare the result with your drawing, adjust one thing and try again. You do not need a finished illustration to start exploring the idea.
