How to Turn Written Instructions Into a Flowchart With Offline AI in 2026 | Off Grid AI
Did this land?

A written procedure can hide the decision that makes the whole process hard to follow. OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) can turn your instructions into a flowchart and show the result beside the chat. Use a local model to create the diagram, then check each branch against the original text.

This is useful for explaining an approval route, a support process, or a simple setup flow. The result is a diagram you can revise without sending the process to a cloud AI service.

What makes a good first flowchart?

Use a short procedure with a clear start, a decision, and an end. Write the conditions explicitly. A diagram can only be as reliable as the process description you give the model.

For example:

A support request arrives. Check whether the order number is present. If it is missing, ask the customer for it and wait. If it is present, check the order status. If the order is delivered, route to after-sales support. Otherwise, route to delivery support.

Then ask:

Turn these instructions into a Mermaid flowchart. Keep every stated condition. Label Yes and No branches clearly. Do not invent extra approval steps. Return one fenced mermaid code block.

Mermaid is the text format OGAD uses to render this diagram. You do not need to install a separate diagram service for the built-in preview.

What do you need for offline diagrams?

Use OGAD on a supported Mac or Windows computer and select a downloaded local text model. Diagram artifacts are a free core feature. The Mermaid renderer is bundled with the app, so a self-contained diagram can preview without internet after setup.

The artifact runtime reads its diagram library from local app resources. Keep the generated diagram free of remote images or other external dependencies.

Getting started

  1. Open Models > Text and select your local model.
  2. Paste a short procedure and the diagram request into Chat.
  3. Open the generated artifact card or select Open canvas from the reply menu.
  4. Check Preview and use Code to inspect the Mermaid definition.
  5. Ask for a correction if a branch is missing or unclear.

The expected result is a flowchart that represents the supplied process. A diagram that renders successfully can still show the wrong decision logic.

How do you check every branch?

Trace one example down each path. For the support example, try a request without an order number, a delivered order, and an undelivered order. Confirm each reaches the correct next step.

When the text is ambiguous, keep the question visible rather than allowing the model to decide policy. Ask:

Mark the unclear branch as “Needs clarification” and list the exact question beside the diagram.

For a larger procedure, make several smaller diagrams linked by named stages. This is often easier to review than one crowded chart.

How do you keep the diagram?

Select Download to save an HTML file with the rendered diagram setup. Open it outside OGAD and check it offline. The built-in export does not claim to produce a PNG or a raw .mmd file.

If you want the Mermaid source for another tool, copy it from Code into a plain-text file. Keep that source with the procedure so future changes are easier to compare.

Get OGAD, paste one short process, and check one example through each branch of the resulting flowchart.
